Show the fullscreen button

Map makers All guides

The fullscreen button lets a visitor blow your map up to fill their entire screen. It's an option you turn on, and it makes a real difference for maps embedded in a small box on a page.

Turn it on

  1. Open the Settings tab

Edit the map and go to the Settings tab.

  2. Turn on Fullscreen button

Under General, tick Fullscreen button ("Show a button that expands the map to fullscreen"). A fullscreen icon then appears among the on-map controls.

When it helps most

If people mainly reach your map embedded in your own website, it often sits in a fairly small frame. The fullscreen button gives them a one-tap way to see the whole thing properly, which matters most on phones where an embedded map is otherwise tiny. For a standalone map that already fills the page, it's less essential.

With the button off, the map stays in its box and there's no way for a visitor to expand it. Turn it on if your map is busy or embedded small.

What visitors do with it
