Per-map colours & fonts vs the team brand

All guides

Your Brand style in Team Settings sets fonts and colours across all your maps. But one map can quietly overrule any of it. In the map editor's Styles tab you'll find the same set of controls scoped to just that map — set a value and it wins; leave it blank and the map keeps the company brand (or the Mapvera default).

Rule of thumb: use Brand style (Team Settings) for anything you want everywhere, and the per-map controls only for the exceptions. That keeps your maps consistent and your overrides deliberate.

Open the per-map style controls

  1. Open the map

From map.au, open the map you want to restyle.

  2. Go to the Styles tab

Select Styles. The top block is Map colours; below it is Panel & sheet theme.

  3. Note the hints

The headings tell you the fallback: Map colours says leave off to use company brand, and the theme block says this map's UI — overrides the company brand.

Map colours

These control the map artwork itself — area fills and the map's own palette. Any you leave blank use the company brand.

Panel & sheet theme

This block styles the visitor UI for this map — the search panel, bottom sheet and place cards. It has three parts: Fonts, Text sizes and colours. As the panel notes, a map value always wins over the company one.

  1. Fonts

First Load Google Fonts — search and add the fonts this map uses so they appear in the dropdowns. Then pick a font per role: Everything (base), Titles & names, Body text, Buttons and On-map labels. Blank = the company font or default.

You only need to load a font once per map; then it's available in every dropdown here.

  2. Text sizes (px)

Set a pixel size per device for Card title, List name and Body text — a Desktop column and a Mobile column. Blank keeps the default. Handy when a size should differ between phone and desktop, e.g. bigger list names on mobile.

  3. UI colours

Six swatches — Panel background, Main text, Secondary text, Accent (Directions button & active chip), Lines & dividers and Soft fill. Each blank swatch falls back to the brand.

How the fallback works

Every field is a three-step fallback. Think of it per field, not per map — you can override just the accent colour and let everything else inherit the brand:

If the map field is…The map uses…
setthe map's value (overrides the brand)
blank, but the brand sets itthe company brand value
blank, and the brand is blankthe Mapvera default
To stop overriding and return a field to the brand, just clear it — an empty field is the signal to fall back. There's no separate "reset" needed on a per-map field.

Save and publish

The preview updates as you go, but the changes only reach visitors once you save and Publish the map. Open the live map on desktop and on a phone to confirm your overrides look right against the rest of your brand.
