Show opening hours in the right time zone

Turn on trading hours so place cards show Open or Closed, then set the map's time zone so the status is correct for every visitor, wherever they are.

Add opening hours and each place card shows a live Open or Closed, today's times, and the full week. Set the map's time zone and that status stays correct for every visitor, whether they are standing on site or looking from the other side of the world.

Turn on opening hours

  1. Open the Hours tab

    In the map editor, open the Hours tab and tick Enable opening hours for this map.

  2. Set the default week

    Fill in the Map default hours for each day. Leave a day unticked to mark it closed. Overnight times are fine: a bar open until 2am shows as open past midnight.

  3. Choose who uses them

    Tick Use these hours for every location for the simplest setup, or leave it off and give individual places their own hours on the Landmarks tab.

You can also add date exceptions for holidays or one-off closures. An exception always wins over the normal weekly hours for that date.

Set the time zone

By default, hours show in each visitor's own device time zone. For an on-site map that is exactly right. But if people check your map from elsewhere, their phone's clock could show the wrong status. Pinning the map to the venue's time zone fixes that for everyone.

  1. Find the setting

    On the Hours tab, look for Time zone for these hours, just above the weekly grid.

  2. Search for your place

    Start typing a city or country. The common ones sit at the top, with everywhere else below. Pick the entry that matches where the venue is, for example Sydney, Australia.

  3. Or leave it as default

    Prefer each visitor to see their own local time? Leave it on Default, or press the × to clear a choice.

The setting stores the region, like Australia/Sydney, not a fixed offset. That means daylight saving is handled automatically, so you never touch it twice a year.

What the time zone covers

Everything date and time based follows the map's zone once it is set. The live Open or Closed badge, today's hours, the full week, and your holiday exceptions all read from the venue's clock rather than the visitor's.

It also drives your notice banner. If you schedule a notification with a start or end date, that window opens and closes on the venue's calendar day too, so a notice never appears a day early or lingers a day late for someone in another region.
