Control how fast the route line draws in

Map makers All guides

Animation speed in the Wayfinding settings controls how quickly the route line sketches itself in when a visitor chooses directions.

What it does

When a route is picked, the line does not just appear. It draws across the map from start to finish. This field sets how fast that happens. The default is 1. A lower value draws the line more slowly and deliberately; a higher value snaps it in faster.

Choosing a value

Slower reads as a considered, guided reveal, and helps a visitor follow the path with their eye on a large map.

Faster feels snappier and gets the visitor to the finished route sooner, which suits short routes and busy kiosks.

Leave the field blank to accept the default. To change it, type a number.

This is purely a visual flourish. It has no effect on the route, the distance, or the estimated time. The preview animates as you change it, so try a couple of values. For the other line fields, see Style your route line.
