Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your account by asking for a 6-digit code from your phone in addition to your password. It's the single best thing you can do to keep your maps safe.
Turn on two-factor

Open your profile
Sign in, open the menu (top-right) and choose your name / profile, then find the Security section.

Get an authenticator app
Install any TOTP app — Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or similar — on your phone.

Scan and activate
Click Turn on Two-Factor, scan the QR code with your app (or enter the key by hand), type the 6-digit code it shows, and click Activate Two-Factor.

Save your backup codes
You'll be given one-time backup codes (also downloaded as a file). Each works once if you ever lose your phone.
Store them somewhere safe — a password manager or a printed copy — never in your email.
Reset your password
Forgotten your password? On the sign-in page, enter your email and use the Forgot password link — we'll email you a link to set a new one.
