Every team gets its own web address for its maps at no cost. On the Enterprise plan you can also point a domain you own at your maps, set up with a single DNS record.
Your Mapvera address (included)
As soon as your team exists it has a public address in the form yourname.map.au, where yourname is your team's slug. Every map you publish lives under it, for example yourname.map.au/festival.
You can change your slug at any time in Team Settings. See Change your company name & web address.
Use your own domain name (Enterprise)
On the Enterprise plan you can serve your maps from a domain you own, such as maps.yourcompany.com. Your own domain and your map.au address work as a pair: you pick which one is the main address, and the other redirects to it, so a visitor always lands in the right place. Using your own domain attracts a fee. If you would like it turned on for your team, contact us and we will enable the Custom Domains section in your Team Settings.
Set it up in one step
Once the section is enabled you will find it under Team Settings › Custom Domains. The whole setup is a single DNS record.

Enter your domain
Type the domain you want to use, for example
maps.yourcompany.com, and click Set up domain. -
Add one DNS record
We show you a single CNAME record to add wherever your domain's DNS is managed. That one record is all that is ever needed. Use the Copy the setup email button to send a ready made message to your IT person or web host.
If your DNS provider has a proxy option, add the record as DNS only, not proxied, or it will not validate.

Wait for it to go live
Once the record is in place your domain validates and its SSL certificate is issued automatically, usually within 15 minutes although it can take up to an hour. The page checks and updates on its own, so you can leave it and come back. That one record stays in place permanently and the certificate renews itself, with nothing further to do.
Choose how your domain behaves
There are two choices, and you can switch between them at any time. The change takes effect right away.
Use as Primary Map Address. Your domain becomes the main address and serves every map directly. Your map.au address then redirects to it, so your own domain is the one people see and share.
Redirect to your map.au address. Your domain stays active but every visit redirects to the same page on your map.au address, keeping the full path and link intact. Useful when you want the domain reserved or pointing in, while your map.au address stays the main one.
Manage or remove it
The same section gives you a few controls:
Check status. Re-checks where setup is up to. You rarely need it, since the page updates on its own, but it is there if you want to prompt a check.
Change domain. Switch to a different domain name. You add one DNS record for the new domain, the same as before.
Delete domain. Remove the custom domain and go back to your map.au address.
