Import wayfinding lines from your SVG

If your SVG artwork already carries wayfinding lines and floor connectors from a design or CAD tool, you do not have to redraw them to tweak them. The Edit SVG lines button copies them onto the map as editable objects you can nudge, extend and rename.

Import the open floor

  1. Switch to the floor

    The import reads the floor that is currently showing, so open the level you want first. Import each floor separately.

  2. Open the drawing tools

    On the Wayfinding tab, click Draw wayfinding on the map.

  3. Click Edit SVG lines

    Click Edit SVG lines in the toolbar. Mapvera reads this floor's SVG wayfinding lines and floor connectors and asks you to confirm how many it found.

  4. Confirm the import

    Accept and the lines and connectors appear as editable objects. Pick the Select tool to move their points, extend them, or rename a connector.

The confirmation warns that on publish the map uses your edited copies, and the SVG's own wayfinding layers are retired. The editable objects become the source of truth for that floor, so tidy them here from now on rather than back in the artwork.

Check the import

Once imported, treat the lines like any drawn network. Confirm each corridor line is where you expect and that lines cross where you want a junction. The same rule applies: anything that touches or crosses connects, so an imported line left slightly short of another stays separate until you extend it. See Draw walking paths onto your map.

Imported floor connectors keep their names. For a stair or lift to link two floors, the marker on each floor must share a name. Import both floors, then check the pair matches. See Connect floors with lifts and stairs.

When to use it

Reach for Edit SVG lines when your artwork already has a clean network and you only want to adjust it in the editor. If a floor has no authored wayfinding, or it is an image floor, just draw the network on the map instead. See Draw on your map: paths, barriers and connectors.
