Getting around a Mapvera map

All guides

A Mapvera map opens straight in your web browser — there's nothing to download and no account to create. This guide points out the main parts so you can find your way around in seconds.

The two halves of the screen

Every map has two parts: the map itself, which you can zoom and drag around, and a list of places (the directory). On a computer the list sits in a panel beside the map; on a phone it sits in a sheet that slides up from the bottom of the screen.

The map may open zoomed in on a particular spot, or showing the whole thing — that's set by whoever built it. You can always zoom out to see everything.

Find a place

  1. Browse the list

Scroll the directory to see every place on the map. Tap or click a name to jump straight to it.

  2. Or search

If there's a search box at the top of the list, start typing a name — the list filters as you type.

  3. Or tap it on the map

Every marker on the map is tappable. Tap one to open its details.

The place card

Opening a place brings up its card — the name, a photo or logo, and a short description if one was added. Many cards also have a More button that opens a website or booking page, and a Directions button that draws a walking route to get there.

The controls around the map

ControlWhat it does
Zoom + / −Zoom the map in and out. You can also pinch on a touchscreen or use the scroll wheel.
FullscreenExpand the map to fill your whole screen (if the map has this button).
Level switcherOn a multi-level map, hop between floors.
MinimapA small overview in the corner showing where you're currently looking.
ClearCancel the current selection or route and go back to the full map.
Not every map shows every control — the person who built the map chooses which ones appear, so yours may have a smaller set.
