On maps that have been set up with real-world positioning, you do not have to tell the map where you are. It can use your device's live location as the starting point for directions and show you as a moving dot on the map.
Start from where you are

Open your destination
Tap the place you want to reach to open its card, then tap Directions.

Choose Current location
When the map asks where you are starting from, choose Current location. This appears on maps set up with real-world positioning.

Allow location access
Your browser asks for permission to use your location. Choose to allow it. The route then begins from your live position.

Follow the line
A route draws from where you are to your destination. Your live position shows as a dot that moves as you walk.
If your location will not show
The live dot needs your device location switched on and permission granted for websites. If you declined the permission prompt, or location is off in your device settings, the map cannot place you. Turn location on for your browser and try again. A good signal helps too: accuracy is best outdoors and in large open spaces.
