Open a map by scanning a QR code

Everyone All guides

You will often meet a Mapvera map as a QR code on a sign, a poster or a handout. Scanning it opens the map on your phone, and it may open already focused on the very place the code is next to.

Scan the code

  1. Open your camera

On most phones you just open the built-in camera app. Some phones have a separate QR or scan option.

  2. Point at the code

Hold the camera steady over the QR code until a link pops up on screen.

  3. Tap the link

Tap the link to open the map in your browser. There is nothing to install.

If nothing pops up, move a little closer or further back so the whole code is in view, and make sure it is well lit.

What opens

A code might open the whole map, or open it zoomed to one place, or even start a whole walking route. If a route appears, you have scanned a guided tour, see Follow a guided tour. From there you can look around and find your way, see Get around a map and Get directions to a place.
