Routes & directions

The route settings, field by field

Map makers All guides

The Wayfinding tab in the editor holds every setting for how directions look and behave on your map. Here is what each field does, in the order you meet it.

Turning wayfinding on

Enable wayfinding on this map switches on turn-by-turn directions. It needs a walkable path network, drawn in your level artwork or with the Draw wayfinding on the map tools. See Build a walkable path network.

Enable step-free (accessibility) adds a wheelchair-friendly toggle to directions that avoids stairs. See Turn on the step-free (accessibility) option.

Fixed starting location ID forces every route to start from one place, for a fixed kiosk or entrance. Leave it blank for normal point-to-point directions. See Set a fixed starting point.

How the line looks

Smoothing rounds the corners of the drawn line (default 5). Animation speed controls how fast the line sketches in (default 1). Line width is its thickness (default 2).

Line colour and Accessible wayfinding line colour set the normal and step-free route colours. See Style your route line.

Non-accessible (break) colour is not a route colour. It marks stairs and barriers in your artwork so step-free routing avoids them. See Set the colour that marks stairs and barriers.

Walk time and distance

Auto-calculate scale from GPS derives real-world distances per level from your GPS corners when they are all set. Scale, metres per map unit is the manual fallback. Walking speed (m/s) and Accessible speed (m/s) turn distance into the estimated time.

For the maths behind the estimate, see How estimated walking time is worked out, and for scale detail see Get accurate walk times.
