Turn on the step-free (accessibility) option

One checkbox in the Wayfinding settings, Enable step-free (accessibility), gives your visitors a wheelchair-friendly route option in directions.

What the toggle does

When Enable step-free (accessibility) is ticked, the directions panel gains a step-free toggle. With it on, the route avoids stairs and any barriers you have marked, and the estimated time uses your slower Accessible speed instead of the normal walking speed.

Turn it on

1. Open the Wayfinding tab

   In the editor, open your map and go to the Wayfinding tab.

2. Tick Enable step-free (accessibility)

   It sits near the top of the panel, under the draw controls.

3. Mark your stairs

   Tell step-free routing which parts of the map are steps by marking them with the break colour.

4. Publish

   Publish the map so the step-free toggle appears for visitors.

It needs two more things to work well

Enabling the toggle only matters if the routing can tell stairs apart from level paths. Set a break colour and mark your steps with it, and set an Accessible speed so the estimated time is realistic. For the full step-free workflow across levels, see Set up step-free routes.
